Turing Selected for NEDO’s “SBIR Promotion Program” Accelerating Development of Deep Learning-Based Autonomous EVs

Turing Inc. (Kashiwa City, Chiba; CEO: Issei Yamamoto; hereinafter referred to as “Turing”) has been selected for the 2022 “SBIR Promotion Program” by the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO), a national research and development agency.

Background and Objectives of the Project

NEDO’s “SBIR (Small Business Innovation Research) Promotion Program” is based on the Act on Activation of Science Technology and Innovation Creation. The goal of the program is to promote research and development by startups to solve social challenges.

Turing has concentrated on the research and development of AI autonomous driving systems and has previously conducted demonstrations on public roads and automotive test courses within Chiba Prefecture. Turing is working on improving the safety, practicality, and durability of the hardware and software that make up their autonomous driving system with the goal of “long-distance AI autonomous driving.” This project is expected to bring significant innovation to human mobility and the transportation and distribution of goods. During the project period, the company will implement hardware autonomous driving systems and undertake “long-distance driving demonstrations on public roads.”
