Turing Advances Autonomous EV Development, Forms Strategic Partnership with Industry Leader Tokyo R&D
Joint development of 100 autonomous EVs planned for 2025
2023/2/28
Turing Inc. (Kashiwa City, Chiba; CEO: Issei Yamamoto; hereinafter referred to as "Turing"), a company committed to the development and sales of fully autonomous electric vehicles, has entered into a strategic partnership with Tokyo R&D Co., Ltd. (Headquartered in Chiyoda, Tokyo; CEO: Ryota Okamura; hereinafter "Tokyo R&D"), a leader in contract development of research and prototype vehicles.
Turing’s goal is to launch 100 of its original autonomous EVs by 2025 and achieve 'full autonomous driving' by 2030, and to eventually manufacture and sell 10,000 units.
This strategic alliance combines Turing’s strengths in AI and software technology with Tokyo R&D’s extensive experience in vehicle development to jointly develop the autonomous EVs scheduled for production and sale in 2025.
In 2023, the collaboration will focus on designing and developing an original chassis and producing a 'prototype vehicle' with streamlined functionality.
Comments from Issei Yamamoto, CEO of Turing
"Vehicles are incredibly complex products, requiring a vast array of expertise and experience to manufacture. Tokyo R&D's extensive experience in vehicle development and manufacturing is invaluable to Turing’s efforts to become a full-fledged automobile manufacturer. We are delighted to develop vehicles in this partnership."
Comments from Ryota Okamura, CEO of Tokyo R&D
"There is much in common between Turing’s goal to become a mass producer of fully autonomous EVs and Tokyo R&D’s goal of becoming a unique mobility maker. We will combine our strengths and work together to create the mobility of the new era."
